Calete de Fuste

House Good Practice

Enjoy. You are on holiday. Treat our home as if it were your own. That’s all we ask. Unusually, we don’t take any deposits, we trust you. If it does not cause offence, it would be good if you could try and follow this sensible guide::

Smoking. Please smoke outside if you can – there are three terraces and Fuerteventuara is about outdoor living.

Information folder. This will tell you hints etc about the island. We will try to build this up over the years. Please don’t remove items if you can help it.

Basic security. Put on the outside lights – front and back when you go out. Lock the front door and the patio door (put the bolts in the patio doors upstairs and down). Use the safe for passports etc. You would not go out and leave your doors and windows open at home, so it makes sense not do it here. The island is literally crime free but opportunists exist in all countries etc. Please do not change the code.

Fans. Please could you could turn these off when you go out to the beach etc as we don’t charge extra for these.

Couches – We would prefer that you keep the throws on the couches, especially during the day. Also, if you are wearing tanning bronzing oil etc, if you could avoid lying on the couches while soaked in oil, this would be good.

Claire and Juan. They are our Calete local managing agents and they are there to help you.

If you need them call Claire on (0034) 6600892376 and Juan (0034) 660075110. They work at the Ranch restaurant (Claire is the cook) at the Montcastillo Centre and live close by.

If you need the owner (Iain Cameron), call me on 0044 141 331 3297 office / 0044 1505 327315 home.

Have a great holiday.

Iain and Anne Cameron (and Finlay)

Flights – in an emergency and you need to get back to the UK quick.

Obviously, you have your own insurance company and flight company. The experts on the island for low cost ‘stand-by’ and ‘last second’ flights are The Foreign Office.

Telephone 0034 928 175023

Telephone 0034 902 123233

They are well know on the island and used by all those who live and work on the island. They generally cater for one-way flights off the island back to the UK. Their shop is on the opposite side of the road from the airport. Turn right when you go out of the airport by car and look across the road – just past the road bridge you will go under – you will see a shop front marked ‘Foreign Office’.

BINS

YOU TAKE YOUR BIN TO THE LARGE WHEELIE BIN ON THE ROAD AT THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE ENTRANCE TO THE COMPLEX. GO ALONG THE PATH DOWN THE SIDE OF THE HOUSE AND TURN RIGHT AND THEN LEFT AT THE COMPLEX ENTRANCE.

ELECTRICITY TRIP SWITCH

THE ELECTRICITY BOARD / BOX IS BEHIND THE FRONT DOOR AT THE RIGHT HAND SIDE. IF THERE IS A TRIP DUE TO A POWER SURGE; RESET THE SWITCH FROM HERE.

Sun Lounger Cushions

These items are officially not included in the inventory of items and thus the contract. There are some present in the house and there use is optional. If you do use them, please could you use a towel with them when lying on them. These items occasionally get soiled and it is almost impossible for my agent to clean these in the tight turnaround time for the house, and beyond their contract.

BEDDING

This is fresh for your arrival and is changed at the end of week 1 if you are staying for two weeks.

Bed Linen and Towels.

Fresh bedding and towels are available for you on arrival. There are additional blankets and throws etc in the house. The bedding is changed at the end of week one for fresh bedding and towels. There is a washing machine and clothes horse in the house in case you need to wash either bedding or clothes etc.

Please contact Claire if you need any laundry done at Alta Vista

Please contract direct with my agent at a rate of 12 euros per load. If you would wish bedding changed for example twice per week, then please liaise direct with your on island agent and pay the necessary fee or use the washing machine provided. The owner provides fresh bedding and towels on arrival and at the end of week one.

There is plenty of spare bedding. If you need to use this because of children mishaps, please contact Claire. There are 2 red blankets in the upstairs wardrobe and 2 grey blankets in the downstairs wardrobe should you need further warmth. All rooms have light tog duvets, flat sheets, quilt, pillows and cases.

Bedroom 3 (Lounge 2) – This normally doubles as a second lounge (for bookings of 4 people). If you are using this as a third bedroom (bookings of 5 or 6 adults), you will normally have advised me of this and Claire will make this up as a third bed with fresh laundered bedding. If for whatever reason on a 4 person let, you need to use this room as a third bedroom, you will find a laundry bag beneath the couch with full bedding.
